Advising
Upon being admitted in the mathematics graduate program at NMSU, each student is assigned an initial advisor according to the student's general area of interest. In this way, the student has the opportunity to correspond with her or his initial advisor, even before arriving to campus. As the student gets to know members of the Department and develops more specific interests, the advisor may be changed as the student finds appropriate.
