General Description
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at New Mexico State University offers both M.S. and Ph.D. degree programs. The high faculty-to-student ratio promotes an atmosphere of collegiality and individual attention.
Graduate classes tend to be small, with ten or fewer students. The interests of the faculty cover a range of fields, both pure and applied. For an overview of faculty interests and graduate student research, please visit the page describing research opportunities. In addition, some members of the department maintain close contacts with the Departments of Computer Science, Experimental Statistics, and Mathematical Engineering, thereby increasing the scope of programs and the size of the faculty available to students.
