Departmental Resources

The department is housed in two adjacent buildings; Science Hall, built in 1987, and Walden Hall, built in 1966 and renovated in 1987. All of our teaching assistants have private or double offices. For information on the University Libraries, go here. The science and mathematics collections are housed across the street from Science Hall in Branson Library. In addition, a mathematics reading room in Science Hall contains frequently used advanced monographs as well as recent and current issues of journals. The department also has more than 150 personal computers, with seven printers located in Walden Hall (WH), and Science Hall (SH). Each faculty member has at least one computer and most teaching assistant offices have a computer. The computers can reach the internet and thus provide worldwide connections. The deparment has a UNIX network with 20 workstations being served from several other workstations/servers and a WINDOWS network being served by four servers. The Windows network provides computers and printers in SH118, for both undergraduate and graduate students. SH221 and SH222 have PCs and UNIX computers and a printer. These two rooms are reserved for graduate students only. Through the Internet and Telecommunications Center, the department has access to other, larger systems. These facilities are open to graduate students for special projects.
