Welcome to the MGSO website! Currently chartered through 2012, we represent all mathematics graduate students, to both the mathematics department and ASNMSU/GSC. In addition, we are able to advise and assist any mathematics graduate students in departmental matters, as well as prepare documents and in person representation to the administrative divisions of the university on your behalf.
Our primary objectives are the following:
- Provide guidance on obtaining funding for conferences, travel, and other professional activities,
- Plan, organize, and execute activities in the
department for the
benefit of the graduate students; this includes providing accomodations
for guest speakers, special seminars, social gatherings and fund
raising, whenever necessary.
- Act as a trusted source of mentorship and
guidance. This includes preparation for the Ph.D. comprehensive
examination, as well as resolving any conflicts quickly and
effectively.
